The pictures below show the transit of Mercury in front of the Sun on May 9, 2016. The snapshots were taken with my mobile phone through the telescope eyepiece. The poor quality is the results of bad preparation for this event. I also missed the following transit in 2019. So I now have time until the year 2032 to properly prepare for the next one.
Three different features are visible in the pictures. The black round dot on the right is the planet Mercury in front of the Sun. The blurry feature on the left is a group of Sun spots. Between this group and Mercury, there is another group consisting of just two sunspots.
